One student among the Youth Tour delegation will be selected as South Carolina’s representative on the national Youth Leadership Council. The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is made up of one student from each state. The purpose of the YLC conference is to build leadership and public speaking skills, and to enhance the delegates’ knowledge of the energy industry and the cooperative form of business. The S.C. winner will travel (all expenses paid – no charge to the student) back to Washington, D.C, July 14-18, for a leadership conference, and then to Orlando, Florida March 9-13, 2019, for the annual meeting of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. To be considered for this honor, you must be willing and able to travel to both of these events. During the July conference, each student will deliver a a 5-7 minute speech about what inspired them during their Youth Tour trip. Also, the YLC National Spokesperson will be selected to address the membership at the NRECA Annual Meeting and to address the Youth Tour delegates the following year. Please complete this application by May 4 . Applications for the Youth Leadership Council will be judged by the Youth Tour chaperones and narrowed down to a small number of the top candidates. Then after a brief introduction to the group, all students will vote on the ultimate winner.
